CATALOG COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course introduces a range of experiences planning and producing multimedia to enhance and professionalize web sites, including: original and adapted graphics (bitmapped and vector, 2-D and 3-D); animation (frame-based, path-based, and program- or script-based); sound; video; database integration; and e-commerce.

REQUIRED TEXT: Flash MX: Design & Application by Denise Seguin, EMC Paradigm: ISBN 0-7638-1940-9. Also a copy of Flash MX (Included in Macromedia Studio MX 2004). Educational version of Studio MX (including Dreamweaver MX and Fireworks MX) can be purchased for under $200 from compusult.com and other educational software sites. DISTANCE LEARNING ATTENDANCE POLICY: Attendance in an online class is defined by correspondence and the student is expected to demonstrate, at least once a week, that he/she is actively involved and is corresponding in the class. Email through WebCT will be the primary means of communication, especially when the student is having difficulty answering a question or solving an exercise or a problem. For your instructor to help you effectively, please provide as much information as possible when communicating and it is the student's responsibility to check all virtual correspondence (email, bulletin board) regularly.
