VI. COURSE POLICIES
A.
ATTENDANCE/CORRESPONDENCE/COMMUNICATIONS:
Attendance in an online course is defined by correspondence as required by the
instructor. One contact per week is the minimum requirement. Students not
meeting the minimum attendance/correspondence requirement will be awarded a
grade of "W" or "WF" based upon the student's academic
standing at the last date of attendance/correspondence. Email through
WebCT will be the primary means of communication. It is the student's
responsibility to check his/her email regularly. The instructor strongly
encourages communication via e-mail, especially when the student is having
difficulty answering a question or solving an exercise or a problem. For your
instructor to help you effectively, please provide as much information as
possible concerning the difficulty you are having with the assignment.
B.
Tests
Major tests will be given per the course calendar unless changes are
announced at least one week prior. Pop
quizzes and homework assignments are given unannounced at the discretion of the
instructor and may not be made up. Students must not be absent from announced tests without
making prior arrangements with the faculty.
If this is not possible, it is the responsibility of the student to
contact the instructor by phone to make alternative arrangements. A message may be left with the EMT department at 250-8093.
Make-up exams are given at the convenience of the instructor. The
instructor may use any format for the make-up exam. Scores on a make-up exam
will be dropped one full grade with the highest possible score being an
89. Absences from two or more
exams will be closely scrutinized. The instructor may excuse the student from the make-up exam
with a corresponding increase in the weight of the final exam.
The final exam will not be excused.
FAILURE TO OBSERVE THE ABOVE PROCEDURE
OR AN UNEXCUSED ABSENCE ON A TEST DAY WILL RESULT IN A ZERO BEING ASSIGNED
ON THAT MATERIAL.
