In addition, it helps to be:
-
Organized
The distance learner must be organized. Many of the classes expect the students to perform multiple tasks to complete the lesson. Managing time (i.e. school work, family, job, and other obligations) and being able to pull information from multiple sources are important skills. The distant learner must be prepared to spend 8-12 hours a week on each course.
-
Seeker of help
The learner must be willing to seek out help when needed, ask well thought-out questions, and understand that getting an answer may take several days. And, just as in traditional classes, the learner must begin class on the first day.
During the semester, it will be the student's responsibility to submit assignments by the due dates. Techniques for submitting assignments may include e-mail with documents as attachment, postal mail, or hand-delivery to the instructor.
