Categories of Admission

Applicants complying with the basic admission requirements who seek initial attendance at the college and desire to enroll in a curriculum program to pursue an associate degree, diploma, or certificate are classified as regular students. All students may select their courses from any schedule: day, evening, mini-mester, Weekend College, College on TV Videocourses, or College Online courses.

Other categories:

  • Audit: Applicants who wish to enroll without earning a grade or credits. There is no reduction in fees or costs, and applicants must meet any prerequisites for the course.

  • Career Development: Applicants who wish to enroll in a few classes to update their occupational skills, but who do not wish to pursue an associate degree, diploma, or certificate. There is no reduction in fees or costs, and applicants must meet any prerequisites for the course.

  • ACE (Advanced Entrance for High School Students): High school juniors and seniors who want to get a head start on their college careers may enroll in the ACE program. ACE students may take one college course per term. Applicants must meet academic requirements of any course taken.

  • Transient: A student already enrolled or accepted at a college other than Greenville Technical College who wishes to transfer credits back to his or her primary college. A permission form specifying the courses to be taken, signed by the dean or advisor from the student's primary college, must be submitted with the Greenville Technical College application and application fee.

  • International Students: Any applicant who is requesting a student visa (F-1).

  • Senior Citizen: Any legal resident of South Carolina who is at least 60 years of age may enroll, on a space-available basis, without paying tuition, provided that he or she is not employed full-time. The application for admission must be submitted, the application fee paid, and other regular criteria must be met for acceptance.
